Western Meadowlark

I keep running into western meadowlarks in the same spots every year, and every year I think I’ve worked them out. I haven’t.

Behavior tells the story: watch for twenty minutes and the bird tells you what it is in three or four actions.

Regional occurrence notes: I usually catch this species in the western north america part of its range.

A local patch has produced this species on roughly one in three visits, which is probably more than I deserve.

Anyway: not a rare bird, not a hard bird, but one I want on every trip.
