Turkey Tail

A rainy October is the short window when the turkey tail becomes a regular in my folders.

A macro lens is useful but a phone up close is often enough for the record.

My images for this species are all made with available light. I don’t use fill flash in the field.

Most of my sightings are on downed logs in second-growth forest within an hour of home.

I don’t forage. Any mushroom I photograph stays where it is.
