Oyster Mushroom
Pleurotus ostreatus

A rainy October is the short window when the oyster mushroom becomes a regular in my folders.
A macro lens is useful but a phone up close is often enough for the record.
Regional occurrence notes: I usually catch this species in the cosmopolitan on hardwoods part of its range.
Most of my sightings are on downed logs in second-growth forest within an hour of home.
I don’t forage. Any mushroom I photograph stays where it is.
