North American River Otter

A north american river otter shows up in my notebook once or twice a season, always unplanned.

Wind direction matters for mammals in a way it mostly doesn’t for birds.

Regional occurrence notes: I usually catch this species in the rivers and coasts of north america part of its range.

One sighting that sticks: a single animal crossing an open flat with no cover, moving faster than I expected.

There is no ID problem here, only a distance problem and a light problem.
