Keel-billed Toucan

I keep running into keel-billed toucans in the same spots every year, and every year I think I’ve worked them out. I haven’t.

Behavior tells the story: watch for twenty minutes and the bird tells you what it is in three or four actions.

Regional occurrence notes: I usually catch this species in the southern mexico to colombia part of its range.

A local patch has produced this species on roughly one in three visits, which is probably more than I deserve.

I’m still bad at sexing juvenile keel-billed toucans in the first year, and I suspect I always will be.
