Eastern Tiger Swallowtail

At a certain point in late summer the birds quiet down and the eastern tiger swallowtail starts getting my attention.

Wind is the enemy. A dead-calm ten minutes can give you more images than a windy hour.

I avoid published counts of population estimates here. My interest is a sightings journal, not a density map.

I’ve photographed this species on nectar sources in several states and a couple of regions.

This is a species I’d like to spend more time with, and probably will once the fall migration settles down.
