Cedar Waxwing

The cedar waxwing doesn’t get the attention it deserves, probably because it’s too common in some places and too remote in others.

The call is the cheap win, the thing you pick up first because you don’t need the bird to sit still for it.

Regional occurrence notes: I usually catch this species in the north america part of its range.

I’ve had good looks during fall migration on ridges and less consistent luck at coastal stopovers.

It’s a species I’d happily spend an entire morning watching without ever raising the camera.
