Tide table notes for Bolinas
Notes to my future self on the Bolinas mudflats: arrive two to three hours before low, not at low. The birds work the retreating water, not the flat. The parking at the north end fills early on weekends; on weekdays it’s a non-issue. If the tide table shows less than a foot of low, the flats get walked by dogs, so plan around that. For shorebirds in fall I want a minus tide on a quiet morning with light wind out of the west, which is not a lot to ask a couple of times a season, but it isn’t nothing either.
