On getting a good photo of a bad bird

Some birds refuse to pose and the trick is not to keep shooting; it’s to stop shooting and watch. A yellowthroat that wouldn’t sit still for thirty minutes eventually gave me five seconds in the open. The rule of the morning became “be ready for five seconds, don’t waste them trying for five minutes.”
