Notes on carrying less

I went out for three days last month with one body, one 400mm prime, one 35, a spare battery, a cleaning cloth, a small notebook, and nothing else worth mentioning. I did not miss the rest of the kit. I did not make fewer photographs. I am deeply suspicious of this outcome and will be testing it further. I suspect the bag was not the problem.
