Found a pellet

Under an alder by the creek, a pellet about the size of a big man’s thumb, gray-tan, bound up tight. I didn’t dissect it, but the fur content alone told me I was under a daytime roost of something larger than a Screech-Owl. I’ve been back twice since, once at last light, and I’ve seen nothing. That’s fine. The pellet is enough of a data point to keep the spot on a list I check monthly through the winter.
