Backpacking vs. car birding

The car is the best hide anyone has ever invented, and the worst thing about birders is that many of us are embarrassed to admit it. I do some of my best work from a car window at a refuge auto-loop. That isn’t lazy. Birds don’t discriminate between a car and a rock as much as they discriminate between a car and a moving human.
