Tarangire after the rains
Flew into Kilimanjaro and drove south. Tarangire at the end of the long rains is bright green and much less visited than Serengeti. The elephants weren’t concentrated at the river like they are in dry season, but I preferred the thornbush-walking herds. Birds were everywhere: hornbills, glossy starlings, lilac-breasted rollers on every other bush. A Pearl-spotted Owlet in the middle of the day was a lucky find.
Baobabs don’t photograph well in midday light. I tried. I failed. I tried again.
